‘Hamaka’ honors the tradition of weaving from Grey's ancestral home Boriken "the great land of the valiant and noble Lord". The Taínos were potters and weavers, it’s from them that the Hammock (from Taíno and Arawak hamaka) comes from. Here Grey has warped the hamaka pattern to speak about the colonization and genocide of the Taínos.
